Hydrogen Storage, Production and Sustainable Fuels

Additional sessions will consider operando and in-situ characterisation of electrode–electrolyte interfaces, including spectroelectrochemical and synchrotron methods. Presentations may cover catalyst degradation mechanisms, membrane and electrode lifetimes, and the measurement of activity and stability under industrially relevant conditions. Discussion will extend to techno-economic assessment, life-cycle comparison of competing hydrogen routes, and the gap between laboratory performance and pilot-scale operation. Machine learning for catalyst discovery and autonomous optimisation of electrolyser performance will also be addressed. The translation of fundamental insight into deployable technology will be emphasized, including collaborations between physical chemists, materials scientists, engineers and policy bodies engaged with national hydrogen programmes.
